ACAPO - Associação dos Cegos e Amblíopes de Portugal (Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Portugal) has been defending and representing the interests of visually impaired Portuguese citizens at national and international level since October 20, 1989. ACAPO has achieved countless social victories, plays a role that is widely recognized by Portuguese society and has inherited the first self-representative associative movement of visually impaired people in Portugal since 1927. On a daily basis, ACAPO has a staff of over 150 employees spread across 13 Delegations and Centers throughout the country, 3 Employment Support and Vocational Training Departments, 3 CAVI - Independent Living Support Centers (North, Central and Lisbon) and a Documentary Production Center. These structures play a fundamental role in the habilitation/rehabilitation, autonomy and inclusion of visually impaired citizens.
A white cane is an extension of the arm of a person who is blind or has low vision. It allows them to anticipate obstacles and with the right technique they can walk safely. With your donation, you will be helping to purchase white canes and ACAPO will be providing the technical, specialized and indispensable knowledge for people with visual impairments. Together we are taking steps to ensure that blind and low-vision people can be freer and more autonomous.
The transmission of personal data to third parties is only possible if you consent to it. You can obtain a receipt for your donation during the exchange process on the my MEO App or by calling 16200 up to 3 months after the MEOS exchange.
Note: Some institutions covered by the MEOS Program only issue receipts once a year, before the IRS submission period where these receipts can be declared.
