The Spaces with Meaning are located in leading institutions in the areas of rehabilitation, education and support for people with disabilities. The network currently has partners in Faro (ULS Algarve), Porto (APPC), Leiria (aTOPlab - Politécnico de Leiria) and Alcoitão (Centro de Medicina de Reabilitação de Alcoitão), and is set to expand in the coming years.

In these spaces, people with Complex Communication Needs can be assessed to select the assistive technology that best suits their situation. Examples of this condition are people with cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorders, strokes, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or other illnesses and accidents.

These spaces ensure that users are accompanied in their use of the technologies, as well as in the process of accessing public funding to purchase this equipment. In addition, they provide temporary loan banks for assistive technologies, which allow for assessment, training and use while the user waits for a response to the request for state funding.

Through Spaces with a Sense, the MEO Foundation intends to strengthen the lending banks for assistive technologies in Spaces with a Sense, guaranteeing ready-to-use equipment such as tablets with the MagicContact application, computers with the Grid3 software, or eye control systems with the Tobii PC Eye. This avoids long waiting times for public funding and ensures a rapid response for those who can only communicate with family and friends through these technologies.
